Hanklerfish Headphones Cozy

Ich weiß, dass ich nicht die einzige bin, die ständig mit verworrenen, verknoteten Kopfhörerkabeln kämpft. Abgesehen davon gehen sie ständig kaputt.
Also muss man ständig neue kaufen. Dieses mal trotze ich dem Schiksal und habe ihnen ein kleines Täschlein zur Aufbewahrung gestrickt, das beiden Problemen (ein wenig) Einhalt gewähren soll.

Spontan angeschafftes und dann doch nicht benutztes pinkes und grünes Baumwollgarn  kam mir für meine Idee gerade recht...

Stolz präsentiere ich also das Hanklerfish Headphones Cozy.
Der Anglerfisch sieht etwas grummelig aus, aber ich versichere, sie ist es nicht!

Okay, hier sieht sie aus, als würde die Kopfhörer erbrechen...

Kindle – One week after the arrival review

 

I’m the first one to pledge never ending love to the written/printed word on paper.

But. There are quite some reasons why an e-reader is handy. Having to go through extensive pdf files for example. Now I won’t have to print everything (and I already checked, you can highlight the texts, too), you can access a large number of free classic texts and you can finally read your favourite fanfiction on the go.
I do read a lot of light fiction and though (unfortunately) the pecuniary savings on e-books are not (yet?) that much I think I'll save a lot of shelf space. Plus did I mention you can also save the knitting patterns for your current ufo's on it to examine at your leisure/work on where ever you want.

That does not mean that I will ever stop buying/obsessing/cataloging/caressing actual books.

The devise itself is large enough to read comfortably and small enough to fit into my hand (small as it is), it’s lighter than my phone (not too hard as it is considered pre-historic by my peers). The frame looks good and is easily cleaned on a cotton shirt in case you have held it with sweaty hands. The screen has none of the feared blurring/light disturbances criticised in many reviews. It is easy and fairly intuitive operated. I think I will get to love this gadget <3

I made myself a sturdy cover to carry it around in my bagpack without being in constant fear of breaking it – though it seems pretty robust.

I not only discovered the very best criterion nobody ever mentioned in an advertisement (»You can change pages with your nose!!!«) to own one of these nifty devices, I also made up a free pattern for a Wise Owl Kindle Cozy Cover - knit and enjoy!

There's an owl on both sides, one is sitting on an apple the other on a cherry tree.

I had some Blue Faced Leicester lying around for some time and finally started spinning it.

It’s very beautiful - the autumn-y colours are really vibrant and the fiber is so soft.

I have no idea what I’ll make with it (120gr of lace weight) - any suggestions?

DFTBA Shawl and Mittens

People of the internet behold the Rainbow Shawl of Awesome!

Sorry to sound like I’m bragging, I just love this shawl so much <3 And it comes with matching DFTBA/Tiny Squid of Excitement gloves.

Because I had enough yarn left to make them after I finished the Rainbow Shawl of Awesome (and it would have been plain silly to make a hat) I had to make them.
Rainbow coloured gloves with grey mittens for extra warmth.One has DFTBA embroidered on, the other a Tiny Squid of Excitement - because that’s just what I am most of the time. Both have a tiny hole - disguised as sucky-octupus-thingy - to put your pointy finger through to turn the pages of your novel (I neither own a schmancy smart phone nor a kindl divise but in case I’ll ever do this might also come in handy).
I’ll write the pattern up in case anyone would want me to…

›Fair Ground‹ Wolle

Vor Weihnachten sah ich dieses Garn im Geschäft und musste vor Entzücken quietschen. Die ebenfalls anwesende Frau Mutter rümpfte nur die Nase, Hornhaut verätzend sei es.
Jedenfalls habe ich ein Knäul zu Weihnachten bekommen und angefangen einen Clapotis zu stricken. Da ein Knäul nicht reicht, musst ich mehr im Internet bestellen. Mein Päckchen ist heute angekommen und es war sogar ein kleines Geschenk mit dabei.

Auch wenn ich eigentlich immer Büroklammern als Maschenmarkierer benutze und so gesehen eigentlich keine ›schönen‹ Markiere brauche, hab ich mich sehr gefreut!
